Laura Mertz brings over a decade of experience in the financial services industry to her role at Blankinship & Foster. Before joining the firm, Laura spent 10 years at another registered investment advisory firm where she developed expertise in personal financial planning. Her career began in marketing for boutique businesses in the gourmet diet delivery, hospitality, and fitness industries—an experience that shaped her client-centered approach and strengthened her communication skills. Today, Laura leverages that background to build lasting relationships and deliver personalized guidance that helps clients achieve long-term financial success.
Laura earned an associate’s degree in business administration from MiraCosta College and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Services from San Diego State University. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and an active member of the Financial Planning Association and the North County Estate Planning Council.
Laura is passionate about helping people make smart decisions about their money. She thrives on solving complex financial challenges and guiding clients toward clarity in their financial goals, with a focus on creating the retirement they’ve always dreamed of.

What do you enjoy doing in your time off?
Outside of work, I enjoy running and hiking local trails, watching sunsets, and spotting dolphins along the coast. I also love skiing in the Eastern Sierras during winter, relaxing at the beach in summer, and traveling whenever the opportunity arises.
What sport(s) do you enjoy watching most?
I enjoy watching soccer, Formula 1, tennis, rugby, and cricket because each combines strategy, skill, and excitement in a unique way – from the teamwork and suspense of soccer to the speed and precision of F1, the mental toughness of tennis, and the intensity and strategy of rugby and cricket.
